The Pinipol© App

Pinipol© is a quick tapping voting to allow many voices to make confident choices. Pinipol© allows you to:

  • VOTE:Make your opinions heard when you vote on friends polls or users polls across the globe. Help others make decisions whilst climbing the ranks to become an expert decision maker.
  • POST: Can't make up your mind? Post a poll and let the world vote for you.
  • DECIDE: After the votes have come in, take your decision to the next level by analysing your results using the tools provided.
  • CONNECT: Find and follow friends. Join and create groups. Create polls only visible to your friends and connections.

Opening an account

  1. How do I register for an account?

    You can register for an account through www.pinipol.app or by downloading the iOS or Android apps. Opening an account and using the app are free.

  2. Is there an age restriction for the use of the app?

    Pinipol© can only be used by users aged 13 or older. Children aged 7-14 can use the Minipol© app available at www.minipol.app or iOS and Android app stores.

  3. What is the difference between a personal and a business account?

    A personal account is free to open and use. Personal users can create polls that have 2 options. There are no limits to the number of polls that a personal user can create. A business account is also free to open and use. However, in-app purchases will be possible to increase the number of polls that can be posted by a business user. Business users can post polls that have up to 4 options. Business users can also pay to post ‘Premium polls’ which are displayed more prominently in other users’ home screen.

  4. Who can open a business account?

    Business accounts can be opened by companies, groups, charities and other organisations. An individual user cannot open a business account for personal use.

  5. Does it cost anything to use the app?

    The app is free to use for personal users. Business users can use the app without cost, or pay to access additional features, including the ability to post more polls or post Premium polls that are displayed more prominently in other user's home screens.

User profile

  1. How do I change my profile details?

    User profile details can be changed at any time through the main profile tab in the app. You cannot change your date of birth or username.

  2. Can I use a photograph for my profile picture?

    Any non-offensive image can be used as a profile picture.

  3. What information must I give on my profile?

    The minimum information required to set up an account are name, date of birth and email address. All other profile information is optional, but would enhance user experience by enabling more relevant polls to be highlighted.

  4. Who can see my profile information?

    Your information is only visible to you. When a user votes on a poll, the poll owner will be able to see anonymised information about the voter (such as age or location), but the identity (name or username) of the voter will not be visible to the poll owner or anyone else.

  5. What do the user statuses Guru and Oracle mean?

    Guru and Oracle statuses indicate that a user is good at predicting the outcome of a poll. A user becomes a Guru when the user has chosen the most popular option in at least 75% of the polls they voted on. An Oracle is a user who has voted the same as the majority of the voters in more than 90% of cases. The status of Guru and Oracle are only assigned when a user has voted on at least 100 polls. A user’s status is updated after every additional 50 votes the user casts.

Posting a poll

  1. How do I post a poll?

    You can post a poll through www.pinipol.app or through the iOS or Android apps. You can set the poll to become live immediately, or schedule it to become live at a specified later date and time.

  2. What topics can I post a poll on?

    You can post a poll on any topic that does not contravene the terms and conditions of the use of the app. Polls must not be posted on topics that are illegal, discriminatory or offensive.

  3. Who can vote on my polls?

    You can make the poll visible to everyone (a public poll), to all your friends, or only to a group that you own or are a member of.

  4. How many options can a poll have?

    Personal users must choose two options for each poll. Business users can choose up to 4 options for every poll.

  5. How do I add images to my polls?

    You can add images from the web, your mobile device, or by searching through the library of images through the app.

  6. When does a poll close?

You can also set the poll to be closed when a specific number of votes have been cast. When both options are chosen, the poll will close whenever either of these conditions have been met, whichever happens first. You can also choose to end a poll early at any time.

  7. Who can see the results of my polls?

    The results of our poll will be visible to everyone who was invited to vote on the poll (whoever the poll was visible to, even if they did not vote on the poll). You can also make the results of the poll to be visible to everyone (public).

  8. How long will the results of the poll be visible?

    The results of the poll will be visible to the users who were eligible to vote on it for at least 7 days from the date of closure. You may also choose to make the result of the poll permanently visible.

  9. Can I post an anonymous poll?

    Yes, you may post a poll anonymously. When a poll is posted anonymously, voters will not be able to see the identity of the poll owner.

  10. Can I change a poll after it has started?

    A live poll cannot be changed. It can only be ended early. If you need to change a poll, you must end the poll and post a new poll. When a poll is ended early, the results of the poll will be made available in the same manner as all other polls.

  11. What is a Premium poll?

    A Premium poll is a poll that appears in all users’ home feed. It is displayed more prominently and is likely to attract more votes. Business users, but not personal users, can pay to post Premium polls. Every personal user who votes on 100 polls is automatically awarded the opportunity to post a Premium poll, which they must post within 30 days of receiving the award. The Premium poll will expire if it has not been posted within that time.

Voting on a poll

  1. Which polls can I vote on?

    You can vote on all polls that are visible to you. These may be Public polls (visible to everyone), or polls posted by your friends or posted in a group that you are a member of.

  2. Can I choose more than one option on a poll?

    A user can only choose one of the options on a poll. When a vote has been cast, it cannot be changed.

  3. Can I vote more than once on a poll?

    You can only vote once on a poll.

  4. How do I find polls I want to vote on?

    Polls that are visible to you will appear in your home feed screen. Polls posted by your friends, groups or users you follow will appear in your Personal feed screen. Public polls posted by other users will appears in your Global feed screen. You can search for polls in both your Personal and Global feed screens.

  5. When can I see the results of a poll I have voted on?

    You will receive a notification that a poll you previously voted on has closed. The results of the poll will be visible for a minimum of 7 days. The poll owner may choose to make the results permanently visible.

  6. Can I find closed polls previously posted on the app?

    You can search for closed polls if the results are still publicly visible. Closed polls can be searched through the vote on a poll tab.

  7. Can I vote on a poll anonymously?

    All votes are cast anonymously. The poll owner and other poll voters can see who else has voted in a poll, but they will not be able to see which option you have voted on.

  8. Who can see the polls I have voted on?

    Your friends, groups and followers can see which polls you have voted on. However, they will not be able to see which option you chose on in any specific poll.

  9. What information will be shared about me when I vote on a poll?

    The poll owner will be able to see which users have voted on their poll. The poll owner, however, will not be able to see which option any user chose. The poll owner will be able to filter the results of the poll by demographics of the voters (such as age, gender or location).

Connections

  1. How do I make friends?

    You can search for friends by name or username. You must then send a friend request and wait for the friendship request to be accepted. You can see which polls your friends post or vote on.

  2. How do I follow other users?

    You can search for other users by username and follow them. Following another user does not require the permission of that user. You can see which polls users you follow post or vote on.

  3. How do I set up and manage a group?

    You can set up a group through the Connections tab. When you set up a group, you become the owner and administrator of the group and can add your friends to that group. The group owner can decide whether group members can post polls, vote on polls, or both. The group owner can also assign other members of the group as administrators. Group administrators can add or remove members from the group and change their posting and voting privileges. Only a group owner can delete a group.

  4. How can I be added to another user’s group?

    A group owner can only add their friends to the group. When a user is added to a group, the user receives a notification to inform them. The user can choose to leave the group at any time.

Privacy and data use

  1. What data will be stored about me?

    The privacy terms of the app are available through www.pinipol.app. Pinipol© reserves the right to use anonymised demographic data and data related to the use of the app, including polls posted, votes cast.

  2. Who will have access to my data besides the app developers?

    Anonymised data about you may be made available to advertisers or business users of the app, for the purposes of posting polls or adverts that align better with the interests of the app users.

  3. How long will my data be kept?

    Anonymised data about you, polls posted and votes cast may be kept by the app developers permanently, including after you delete your account. The closed polls posted by you will continue to be visible after your account is deleted if you had made the results permanently public. Votes cast by you will continue to be visible to the poll owner, even after your account is deleted.

Advertising

  1. Are adverts shown in the app?

    Adverts may be shown in the app. Adverts may be visible to all users or users of certain demographics or interests.
